The Sunday lunch everyone is talking about

From its impressive fine dining creations to the wide selection of A-grade meats, Saskia has always been a popular choice for our local Polokwaners.
With our new Sunday buffet being launched on 11 March 2018, the people of our beautiful city are in for another big surprise.

Who doesn’t love a Sunday afternoon feast? #AllYouCanEat  #LeaveGymForMonday
Here is everything you need to know about Saskia’s new plans.

The menu

The menu consists of tried and tested favourites as voted by our chefs and regular guests. We spent three months meticulously planning, tasting, and designing these show stopper options that will favour all the senses.

Whether you are a dedicated carnivore, seafood aficionado or a veggie lover,  we will have something special for you. Fresh from the garden or cooked to perfection, pile your plate and enjoy.

I look forward to the Wellington Lamb shank… it is a slow cooked lamb shank with spinach rolled in pastry and served with a deep rich delicate gravy.

It is a brand new option on Saskia’s fine dining menu as well and so far, I have heard only good things from our guests.

My personal favourite

The creamy mussel crock pot is simply to die for!

New Zealand mussels served in a cream-based signature sauce. Nothing beats the fresh crusty bread from the bread table that will elevate the enjoyment of this seafood dish. Yum!
To me, these are the best mussels I have tasted north of the ocean. The mussels will be my reason to get out and dressed up on a windy Sunday.

The sweetest of them all

The macadamia Cheesecake needs no introduction. We went NUTS for it in one of our previous blog posts. Read all about it here.

This however is only the beginning of the sweet treats available on the buffet but you will have to come and experience this visual feast for yourselves.

Seeing is believing

Like everything else at Saskia this will be no ordinary buffet!

Valentine’s day was the perfect example of what Saskia calls a buffet. Everything was so beautifully decorated and presented. With a personal touch added to each dish served that day. Every guest was treated like royalty and cupid was doing he’s rounds all-over Fusion <3

Special care is taken with every item on the menu and some of you would feel guilty to eat.  Sunday lunch will simply never be the same again.

Phuza Sunday? Maybe…

Maybe not like Thursday, but I have a few yummy suggestions in the beverages department.

I love to enjoy my red meat with a glass of our coffee chocolate flavoured Diemersfontein Pinotage and the lamb shank will be a perfect pairing with this wine.
A proudly South African option with quite a story. The grape was developed in Stellenbosch in 1925 by a chemistry professor Izak Perold. He crossed the Pinot Noir grapes with Hermitage to create the grape responsible for the heavenly flavour.

At Saskia you can enjoy it by glass or per bottle.

As mentioned, I need no convincing when it comes to our creamy mussel crock pot and there is no better way to enjoy this seafood masterpiece than with our unwooded Weltevrede Chardonnay. This refreshing option is known for its combination of melon, mango, peach and passion fruit and finished up with a vanilla scent on the nose. Paired with the creamy mussels, all your senses will enjoy the experience.
